Draft genome sequence of Thermodesulfovibrio sp. strain Kuro-1

A novel Thermodesulfovibrio bacterium, named as strain Kuro-1, was isolated from the thermophilic digestion reactor. Strain Kuro-1 shares 99.9 % of the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the T. yellowstonii strain YP87. However, there were differences in substrates that can be used fermentatively between the two strains, and especially strain Kuro-1 could utilize L-lactic acid and pyruvate in a fermentative manner, but strain YP87 can only use pyruvate. To clarify the differences between these phenotypic features, we determined a draft genome sequence of strain Kuro-1.
