Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF) is consistently found at higher frequency in individuals with both sporadic and hereditary colorectal cancer (CRC). ETBF has been shown to induce genetic changes, epigenetic changes and tumorigenesis in several mouse models of CRC, but the genetic/epigenetic changes have not been linked to specific pathways of tumor formation. To better understand if ETBF-induced genetic changes impact the Apc gene, and other tumor suppressors or proto-oncogenes, we performed whole exome sequencing and whole genome sequencing on tumors isolated after ETBF and sham colonization of Apcmin/+ and Apcmin/+Msh2-/-VC mice.
