Equine Sinus Microbiota

This study aimed to describe the microbiota of the equine sinus. As in people, much of the bacteria in the sinus cavity, as well as other body systems, is not cultivable via most commonly utilized approaches. Therefore, our goal was to use next generation sequencing to describe the microbiota of the equine sinus. These data will inform clinical decision making and interpretation of culture results form horses with infection of the sinus cavities (i.e., sinusitis).
