Data and code for: Landscape composition and connectivity explain butterfly use of clear-cuts in contrasting forest-farmland mosaics

This repository contains the R code and data underlying the study "Landscape composition and connectivity explain butterfly use of clear-cuts in contrasting forest-farmland mosaics" (submitted to Forest Ecology and Management). We compared butterfly communities in 120 forest clear-cuts across two contrasting Swedish landscapes — a forest-dominated region (Dalarna) and a forest-farmland mosaic (Scania) — to evaluate how clear-cut characteristics, landscape composition, connectivity, and species traits shape butterfly occurrence and abundance. Analyses combine distance-based redundancy analysis, generalized linear models, and joint species distribution modelling (Hmsc). The repository includes the full analysis script, raw survey and landscape data, and fitted model outputs across 11 spatial scales (200–5000 m).
