Panama: loans to agriculture by banking system 2018 - 2019

In September 2019, the value of loans granted by the banking system to the agriculture sector in Panama amounted to 428 million Panamanian balboas, down from 447 million balboas reported a year earlier. In December 2018, the Central American country's banking system granted the greatest amount of loans to the agriculture sector with 476 million Panamanian balboas. Given that many Panamanians practice subsistence farming, the agriculture sector is a major factor in the country's economic development.
