A correlation and linear regression analysis were conducted to examine the significance of predictive variables in expediting systems engineering. The study various programs and explored their current systems engineering process. The specific areas studied were the process completion time and descriptive program significance. The process under review maintained sequential phases and the relationships between each phase and how they impacted the overall number of days to process completion was studied. This resulted in the identification of trends in shorter prior phases extending to longer follow-on phases and the overall resulting of increased times to completion. This provided a means to quantify the different factors that involve, impact, and interface with the early-systems engineering process in Department of Defense acquisition.
