Recently, a draft genome assembly and transcriptome of D. stramonium have been published (De-la-Cruz et al. 2021; 2022). Here, we present the first chromosome-scale genome of D. stramonium. Non-model species, such as D. stramonium, are of broad enabling new modes of investigating the ecological and evolutionary processes that plants face in their natural environments and how they respond to pollution, human disturbance and climate change. The availability of this reference genome will be of great value for QTL studies, GWAS, population and comparative genomics.
