The data in this file describe Polistes biglumis nests at the end of the founding phase. Data were collected in the field, in years 2004-2008, in 4 populations (Mtg: Montgenèvre, French Hautes Alpes; Fer: Ferrere, Cuneo, Italy; Carì: Canton Ticino, Switzerland; MM: Monte Mare, Isernia, Italy). To avoid pseudoreplication, one census was used for each nest.
