NRS-18501 | Lists of blankets issued to Aborigines [Deniliquin Court of Petty Sessions]

This series is comprised of one volume from the Deniliquin Court of Petty Sessions. The volume is entitled, "Applications Book" and mostly contains a record of licence applications made to the Bench [see NRS18012 Register of licence applications].The last ten pages of this volume contain yearly lists of those people who were issued with blankets at the Deniliquin Court House between 1867 and 1874. The lists are variously dated between the months of April and August.Each entry gives the name of the person receiving a blanket, the date they received it, and how many blankets they were given. Most only received one or two but in some instances the number was higher. Many of the people recorded are only identified by one name, though there are some (mostly those who received large numbers of blankets) who are identified by their first and last names; presumably, these are land owners, taking blankets back to their stations for distribution there.One particular group of people within one of these lists is identified by the clerk as the "Wakool Tribe".This volume has been digitised by CSURA and is available via their catalogue
