In this work, Zahara Ali compiles both articles and interviews developed by Muslim feminist activists and researchers. The sociologist points out that Feminism and Islam "breaks with the orientalism and racism that characterize today’s debates and controversies about women and Islam" (p. 12) and distances itself from it, of hegemonic feminism to give rise to a more direct and detailed analysis by women feminists focusing on the way in which they conceive equality.
