Face microbiome study

The aim of this study was to compare the skin microbiomes of healthy volunteers divided into two groups, a young group and an older group, both defined by age and wrinkle grade. For the purposes of this study, a young group was defined with an age between 18 and 35 and a wrinkle grade in the crow's feet area of 0 to 1 according to the Bazin Atlas; the older group was defined with an age equal to or greater than 55 and a wrinkle grade of 5 to 6 according to the same Bazin Atlas. The study participants were all healthy Caucasian women. Recruitment and sampling of study participants was conducted in 2017 by BASF at the Tarrytown Consumer Testing Center (Tarrytown, NY, USA).
