POLLEN AND PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSIS AT DEADLY DRAW (24RB975), SOUTHEAST MONTANA

Ten pollen samples and one protein residue sample were examined from Site 24RB975, an open campsite located near Colstrip, in southeastern Montana. A hearth from the Powers- Yonkee living surface at this site yielded a radiocarbon age of 3120 + 160 BP (Beta 96750). Pollen samples represent this living surface, the stratigraphic column above and below this surface, and off-site control samples. A pottery fragment was analyzed for possible protein residues in an effort to learn what foods might have been processed in the vessel represented.
