Spatiotemporal Analysis of Cutaneous and Visceral Leishmaniasis in Brazil, 2003 to 2022

This repository provides the datasets supporting the study “Spatiotemporal Analysis of Cutaneous and Visceral Leishmaniasis in Brazil, 2003 to 2022”, aimed at detecting spatial, temporal, and space–time clusters of cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis across 5,559 Brazilian municipalities. The data were organized for use with SaTScan (Discrete Poisson model), enabling purely spatial, purely temporal, space–time, and spatial variation in temporal trends analyses, as well as an additional dataset of environmental, climatic, and socioeconomic covariates used for comparative statistical testing (e.g., Student’s t-test in Jamovi).The dataset includes: (i) annual municipality-level case counts for cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis covering 2003–2022; (ii) a population dataset stratified by municipality, sex, and age group for 2005, 2010, and 2022; (iii) a municipal centroid file (coordinates) to support spatial referencing in SaTScan; and (iv) a single covariate dataset containing environmental/climatic/socioeconomic indicators (including remotely sensed variables), with the variable Leishmaniasis identifying the outcome type (Cutaneous or Visceral). Files are structured to facilitate reproducibility and direct integration into SaTScan and Jamovi workflows.Included files: cutaneous_2003_2022_anual.csv, visceral_2003_2022_anual.csv, population.csv, leishmaniasis_centroides.csv, leishmaniasis_covariate.csv, plus the data dictionary and analysis-parameter documentation.
