Identification of acaulis1 mutations. Arabidopsis thaliana

Arabidopsis thaliana acaulis1 (acl1) mutants were previously isolated in a screen for reduced elongation of inflorescence stems. In order to identify the acl1 mutations, we performed whole genome sequencing of the three acl1 mutant alleles: acl1-1, acl1-3 and 2080. The acl1-1 mutation was induced by X-ray irradiation and the acl1-3 mutation by ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) treatment. 2080 was isolated from a pool of T-DNA insertion mutants but its phenotype was independent of the T-DNA insert. All the mutant alleles were backcrossed to WT (Col-0) for at least four times.
