Trauma presentations to Edendale Hospital Emergency Department in April 2018, 2019 and 2020

These data from the Edendale Hospital Emergency department triage register show the number of presentations to the emergency department during the month of April for the year 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The mechanism of injury and SATS triage score were also captured.
The month of April in 2020 was the month that the level 5 lockdown measures were implemented in South Africa. The data were used to compare the number and severity of trauma presentations during the level 5 lockdown period with trauma presentations for the preceding two years, to demonstrate a significant reduction in trauma presentations after implementation of the lockdown measures.
