Data for: Clusters of non-adherence to medication in neurological patients

In this prospective observational study data from 429 neurological patients were collected either during their visit in the outpatient clinic or during their stay on the neurological ward in the Department of Neurology (Jena University Hospital, Jena, Germany) between January and May 2018. The self-reported demographical data included: age, gender, marital status, level of education, and occupation. In addition, patients were asked on the details of their medication: who takes care of their daily medication and how much medication they take each day. Adherence was assessed using the Stendal Adherence with Medication Score (SAMS). The questionnaire includes 18 questions forming a cumulative scale (0 - 72) in which 0 indicates complete adherence and 72 complete non-adherence. All subjects gave written informed consent and the study was approved by the ethics committee of the Jena University Hospital, Jena, Germany.
