Browne Doorway

Freestanding former entrance bay to Browne house of 1627, removed from original location in 1905 to form feature in Eyre Square. Structure comprises rendered wall incorporating limestone doorway and oriel window. Since this time a glass frame has been placed around the structure and support poles are holding the archway up. There is significany bio-growth on the face of the stone, mostly mosses and lichen with visbile evidence of water damage along the front and back of the support structure. There are a number cracks long the window frame, some of which have been reparied. There is spalling on the carvings and a layer of dirt and grime which make it difficult to see the carvings clearly.
