Effect of FMT of REP-mediated gut microbiota on DSS-induced colitis mice

Given the potential interaction between polysaccharides derived from Rhopilema esculentum Kishinouye (REP) and the gut microbiota, we hypothesized that the protective effect REP on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis is mediated primarily through regulation of the intestinal microbiome. Transplantation of REP-mediated gut microbiota indeed alleviated experimental colitis dramatically enriched Bifidobacterium, Faecalibaculum and SCFAs-producing bacteria were found in the group of transplanting microbiota from REP-treated donor mice.
