Cucurbitacin B alleviates DSS-induced ulcerative colitis by improving gut microbiota disorder in C57BL/6 mice

Cucurbitacin B exlicited prominent efficacy in treating ulcerative colitis partly through improving gut microbiota disorder. Gut microbiota analysis of control, DSS, and 2mg/kg cucurbitacin B groups was conducted and 16S rDNA sequencing data was uploaded. The changing of many specific bacterial genus such as Muribaculaceae, Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group, Muribaculum, Bifidobacterium, Helicobacter, and Escherichia-Shigella might closely related to the recovery of intestinal inflammatory response. This study initially confirmed the therapeutic effect of cucurbitacin B on DSS-induced colitis by improving the diversity of intestinal microbial composition. Cucurbitacin B has the potential to be developed for the treatment of UC and other disorders related to the imbalance of intestinal flora.
