Detection of GES-5-producing multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Japan

A total of 884 clinical isolates of carbapenem-resistance Pseudomonas aeruginosa were obtained between 2012 and 2014 in 47 prefectures in Japan. The presence of carbapenem resistant genes, including blaGESs, blaIMPs, blaNDMs, blaOXAs and blaVIMs, were determined using PCR and sequence. Of them, 33 isolates harbored blaGES-5. The all 33 isolates were analyzed by next generation sequencer.
