Draft genome sequences of novel E. coli L-form strains

Escherichia coli K-12 MG1655 can grow as a cell wall-deficient L-form, which was then subjected to long-term evolution. The replication of L-form bacteria without a cell wall depends on specific genetic mutations. To explore these mutations, we developed a new E. coli K-12 MG1655 L-form strain, evolved it for over 800 and 950 generations without a cell wall, and performed whole-genome sequencing.
