Data for: An evaluation of the performance of DNA recovery from fired firearms and cartridge cases using microdialysis filtration

DNA profiles recovery from different exteriors were compared regarding the percentage of alleles observed as well as the average peak heights and area. The percentage of alleles observed was calculated using: (Number of donor’s alleles observed/Total number of alleles expected)×100. A significantly higher success rates of DNA recovery were obtained from two parts of the handguns: slide serrations and magazine releases. Superiority results of grip panel were observed for the assessment indicators of average peak heights and area for each item.针对不同载体表面的DNA分型（DNA profiles）恢复情况，本研究以检出等位基因（alleles）占比、平均峰高与峰面积作为评价指标开展对比分析。检出等位基因占比的计算公式为：（检出的供体等位基因数/预期总等位基因数）×100。研究表明，从手枪的套筒防滑纹（slide serrations）与弹匣释放钮（magazine releases）这两个部位获取的DNA恢复成功率显著更高。在平均峰高与峰面积这两项评价指标的评估中，握把片（grip panel）的检测结果表现更优。
