Global ocean heat content estimate from 1940 to 2017

Monthly and annual mean ocean heat content (OHC) at depths of 0 - 700 metres and 700 - 2000 metres for the years 1940 - 2017.OHC is given as units of 10^22 Joules relative to a baseline measurement for the years 2006 - 2015. Smoothed-OHC is 12-month running mean.All the available in-situ ocean observations from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Centers for Environmental Information (NOAA/NCEI) are used to produce these data. For the current century, the Argo network provides observations with near-global ocean coverage, significantly improving the availability of ocean observations.
