16S rRNA gene sequences of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria isolated from used engine oil-contaminated soil in Kozhikode, India

This project involves the molecular identification of indigenous hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria isolated from used engine oil-contaminated soil collected from an industrial site in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of the most efficient bacterial strains were obtained through PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing to support bioremediation-based microbial characterization. These sequences contribute to the understanding of native microbial diversity associated with petroleum hydrocarbon degradation.
