The article shows the possibility of creating working digital radio communication systems by simple means. The success of developing digital radio communication systems for small aircraft lies in the use of fairly simple software for devices that are currently widely used, such as smartphones and tablets with Android OS. It is shown that to achieve this goal, it is necessary to further refine the existing software by combining some of the listed programs into a single application with a user-friendly interface. It is noted that in the central and a number of other regions of the Russian Federation, HF gateways connected to each other via the Internet have been successfully operated and improved on amateur radio bands for several years, which, in fact, is a prototype of a self-organizing network. The results of tests conducted in 2023 in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug are presented.
