aFerrets were infected with 107 PFU of virus in 0.5 ml. Any ferrets exhibiting hemorrhage from a body orifice or the inability to remain upright were euthanized under deep anesthesia. bNasal washes were collected from ferrets on days 3 and 6 post-infection and titrated in MDCK cells. Mean titers, expressed as log10 PFU/ml with standard deviations, are shown.
