In this study we performed RNA-sequencing on three NIL pairs segregating for a major grain weight quantitative trait loci located on wheat chromosome arm 4AL using the whole grains at 10 days after pollination stage (DAP). The QTL was identified in a doubled haploid population between two Chinese hexaploid winter wheat varieties, Nongda3338 (ND3338) and Jingdong6 (JD6). JD6 offers the positive allele with increased thousand grain weight and ND3338 was used as the recurrent parent in NIL generation.
