Bacterial colonizers of salt and nutrient disturbed agricultural soil

This study used 16S rRNA gene sequencing to profile bacterial that colonized sterilized soil microcosms. Recipient soils were amended with nothing, salt, urea, or both to investigate the impact of disturbance on community assembly. Colonizer source soils came from five different agricultural or forested areas to investigate the impact of historical legacy on community assembly. The experiment was designed to mimic high tunnel soils following a soil clearing method such as fumigation or anaerobic soil disinfestation.
