Gall midge is major insect pest of rice in Asia, Africa and other rice growing nations. We have attempted to study the metagenome of this rice pest with the view to identify bacterial communities residing inside the gall midge. This analyses was carried out with the objective to discover the role of these microbes, if any, in the rice-gall midge interaction. We have also carried out this analyses on different developmental stages of the insect.
