We used HiSeq sequencing on total DNA to generate complete plastid genome and a full nuclear ribosomal DNA unit of Lecontella madagascariensis. This rare grass species is the member of a monotypic tribe endemic to central Madagascar mountains. The main objective is to accumulate evidence for the phylogenetic placement of this tribe. One individual was characterized (Voucher sample, MSV603 (K))
