DIGITAL TOOLS FOR LANGUAGE PRESERVATION

This article examines the role of modern technology in the preservation, revitalization, and teaching of endangered languages in the 21st century. It highlights how digital tools such as mobile applications, online learning platforms, artificial intelligence, speech recognition systems, social media, virtual communities, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) contribute to language learning and cultural preservation. The article discusses the effectiveness of gamified language-learning applications, MOOCs, podcasts, and crowdsourcing projects in promoting endangered languages and engaging younger generations. Particular attention is given to AI-powered learning systems, voice-activated technologies, and collaborative digital documentation initiatives that support language revitalization efforts. At the same time, the article addresses major challenges, including limited linguistic resources, technological accessibility, the digital divide, and the importance of cultural sensitivity in developing language-learning technologies. The study concludes that technology has significant potential to ensure the survival of endangered languages if supported by cooperation between linguists, technologists, and language communities.
