Due to the diversity and uniqueness of the distribution of the species of the genus Rhabdophis, the revision of its phylogeny remains an unresolved issue. The use of mitochondrial genomic studies for a comprehensive understanding of the phylogenetic relationships of snakes in this genus has not yet been undertaken and needs to include genetic data from snakes distributed in different locations.
