Same-turn self-repair

In same-turn self-repair, speakers interrupt their own emerging turn-constructional unit in order to deal with a problem related to the current turn. Same-turn self-repair can be used by speakers either to retrospectively fix a problem with a part of the turn that they have just produced or to deal with a problem concerning the continuation of the ongoing and not yet completed turn (Schegloff, et al. 1977).
