Air quality monitoring system in the Grand East region – status of the ATMO GRAND EST measurement network

The network of measuring stations in the Grand Est region managed by ATMO GRAND EST has been set up according to successive criteria. It is configured to meet the requirements of the European directives, national information needs (ATTO index,...) and forecasting (especially for population alerts) for regulated pollutants and the explicit – or implicit – demands – challenges – of special needs (in particular for unregulated pollutants). The stationary site analyser fleet provides continuous 24-hour measurements of sulphur dioxide (SO2), particulate matter (PM 10 and PM 2.5), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), mercury (Hg), radioactivity in air. Benzene (C6H6) is measured by passive and active sampling systems, while polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, nickel, etc.) are measured using active sampling systems.
