The project draws on critical theory and political economy to show how institutional debt regimes—such as student loans—are weaponized to restructure moral hierarchies, limit democratic agency, and legitimize austerity-based governance. The dataset includes Federal Reserve time-series data on student loans and government credit holdings, as well as a Python-based notebook and documentation to replicate the study’s empirical results. The statistical analysis includes: Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) stationarity tests Johansen cointegration tests Granger causality Vector Autoregression (VAR) How to Use This Repository To replicate or extend the analysis, follow these steps: Download All Files from ZenodoClick “Download all” to save the contents of this repository to your local machine. Upload the CSV Files to Google Colab Open Google Colab. Upload the two Excel/CSV files: FGCCSAQ027S.csv SLOAS.csv Open CODE.docx Open the Word document included in this dataset. It contains annotated Python code for running all tests. Copy and Paste the Python Code In Google Colab, create a new code cell. Paste the Python code from the Word document into the code cell. Run the Code Click the Run button (play icon) next to the code cell. The notebook will execute the statistical tests and output replication results. Optional: If you prefer, you can instead open the pre-written Jupyter notebook canibal.ipynb in Colab for a structured environment. However, uploading the CSVs is still required.
