Malawi (2013): TRaC monitoring condom use among men and women between 15- 49 years in Malawi (Round 1).

The 2013 cross-sectional study was a baseline study assessing condom use among men and women between 15-49 years. PSI/Malawi undertook similar studies in 2005 and 2008; however the focus of the studies was on youth (15-24). Realizing the information gap for adults aged 25-49, coupled with recent evidence indicating that the majority of people being infected are those who were previously considered to be at low risk, for example, couples and partners in stable sexual relationships (MDHS 2010). The cross-sectional study aimed at assessing condom use behavior among adults aged 15-49 in Malawi. The study findings will help generate evidence for condom social marketing decision-making and also behavior change intervention strategies with regard to consistent condom use with non-spousal partners among the general population. Furthermore, the study will help to assess brand equity elements of Chishango condoms among the general population.
