ChiSCor

ChiSCor is a dataset consisting of 619 fantasy stories freely narrated by Dutch children aged 4 to 12. It aims to investigate how children express character perspectives, as well as the development of language and cognition, using computational tools. This dataset was collected in natural classroom settings, and contains texts, audio recordings, as well as annotations for character complexity and linguistic complexity. Additionally, supplementary metadata is provided for some of the children, such as the educational level of their caregivers. In addition to Dutch-language stories, ChiSCor also includes a small number of English stories, and is suitable for research in linguistics and cognitive science, especially studies focused on children's language and cognitive development.
