资源简介:
The diverse Drosophila of Hawai'i consists of four main lineages. The largest of these four clades is the polyphagous modified mouthparts drosophila, which are morphologically and ecologically distinct. All 106 described species are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands and exhibit modifications of the labellum (mouth) for courtship and feeding purposes. Although the larvae breed on stems, fruits, flowers and bark of a variety of host families, most are substrate and host-specific. Being the largest of the four lineages, it is surprising that it is also the most poorly studied. Please contribute and transcribe the modified mouthpart specimens of the Insect Museum. This expedition of 648 tasks is fully transcribed and validated. This data resource is harvested periodically into the main occurrence index.
