Gut microbiome of murine model of intestinal inflammation and interaction with ER-membrane protein STING

The immune system and commensal bacteria have a highly co-evolved relationship. Resident microbes play essential roles in maintaining tissue homeostasis and profoundly shape mammalian immunity. Cytosolic DNA sensors are essential mediators of the innate immune response. cGAS derived cGAMP triggers STING activation and the downstream induction of type I IFN, proinflammatory cytokines and autophagy. Aberrant activation of STING has been implicated in a number of auto-immune diseases such as AGS, Lupus and SAVI. We examined the microbiome using the SAVI-associated mouse model, Tmem173+/N153s.
