Molecular mechanisms of parasite-host interaction in the example of the system "cestode Ligula intestinalis - bream Abramis brama"

The proposed project is devoted to the study of molecular features of relationships in the "parasite-host" system using the example of the cestode Ligula intestinalis and its intermediate host - the bream Abramis brama. The project will include assembly of the transcriptome of Ligula and bream to obtain information on transcribed genes and generation of predicted proteomes, collection and analysis of excretory-secretory proteins of plerocercoids and bream localized in the zone of their physical contact (in washes from the body cavity of fish and the surface of the parasite). The tasks of the project will be solved using the material collected during the expedition to a natural water body (Lake Syamozero, Karelia), described by traditional methods of parasitology and ichthyology, and analyzed by modern molecular technologies, including transcriptomics, proteomics and bioinformatics.
