DATASET ON NOLLYWOOD’S INFLUENCE ON FEMALE TEENAGERS’ INDECENT DRESSING

This study investigates the impact of Nollywood films, notably “Glamour Girls” and “Shanty Town,” on the sartorial preferences of teenage girls, with a specific emphasis on immodest attire. The research focuses on examining the impact of these films on the modification of cultural norms and behaviours among teenagers. The goals encompass examining the depiction of fashion in these films, comprehending the perspectives of teenage girls regarding these depictions, and evaluating the influence on their clothing choices. The theoretical framework is based on Gerbner’s Cultivation Theory, which suggests that prolonged exposure to media content might influence how viewers perceive reality. The study utilises a survey, employing questionnaires to collect data from a sample of 300 female teenagers who have watched “Glamour Girls” and “Shanty Town.” The key findings of this study reveal that 60.3% of the respondents believe that Nollywood films have a substantial impact on the fashion preferences of teenage girls, frequently endorsing trends that are perceived as immodest or provocative.
