资源简介:
This series comprises Correspondence Registers of the Municipality of Annandale. The records in the series are correspondence registers in which the particulars of letters received have been entered chronologically. Each item of correspondence has been allocated a single number, starting at number one and continuing though to number 21698, the last item in the series. This registration number is usually identified as a ‘Number’ or ‘Progress Number’. The pages of the registers are paginated and ruled into columns. The column headings vary from volume to volume but generally there are headings for: Number or Progress Number; Papers Number; Date Received; Date of Letter; Name and Address of Correspondent; Subject Matter; Referred to; Filed; Attached to. Entries in the Papers Number column include Annual Single Number file references (eg 13/85) as well as single numbers (eg 3356). These single numbers are not the same Numbers/Progress Numbers that have been used to number the items in the register. The Filed column has been used to indicate that the correspondence has been attached to a file. The Attached to column contains the Numbers/Progress Numbers of other related correspondence items to which the correspondence has been attached. At the front of the registers is an alphabetical index to the registered items. Items are indexed by both correspondent name and subject name or description. Users of the index are referred to the appropriate Number/Progress Number and folio number. It is evident that all the records in the series have survived, as the first registered item has been given the number ‘one’ and the final entry is dated close to when the Municipality ceased to exist.
