First records of Maruca amboinalis (Felder, Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875) (Lepidoptera, Crambidae) from mangrove habitats, and additional host-plant records from Iriomote Island, southern Japan

Occurrence records of Maruca amboinalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) from Iriomote Island, Japan, including specimens reared from larvae collected on the mangrove-associated vine Derris trifoliata. The dataset provides the first confirmed evidence of the species’ occurrence in mangrove habitats. Records include preserved specimens and associated field observations (including citizen-science data), with information on life stage, host plant, habitat, and collection method. These data contribute to understanding the larval ecology, phenology, and habitat use of M. amboinalis in the Ryukyu Islands and across the Indo-Pacific region.
