Datasets for three instances of sawmill production planning problems

The datasets contain three simulated instances (Small, Medium, and Large) for production planning in a sawmill. Each instance size includes two versions: one for traditional optimization models and another for the proposed formulation presented in 'Explicit Modeling of Multi-Product Customer Orders in a Multi-Period Production Planning Model' by Palma CD, Vergara F, and Muñoz-Herrera S. Both versions of each instance size represent the same production scenario.

The datasets include costs (such as purchasing and processing logs, and inventory holding costs for products) and yields associated with different sawing patterns applied to various log types. They also contain data on the processing time required for each log and the available processing time, as well as minimum demand requirements, which, in the proposed formulation, are presented as customer orders.
