Salmonella Gallinarum was found to be one of the major serovars affecting poultry in India. It is a major threat to poultry industry as infection is spread vertically also. High morbidity in chicks causes economic losses. It is of zoonotic importance also, and antimicrobial resistant strains are prevalent. The genomic data may be useful to provide insight into the pathogenesis, biology, mechanisms of host tropism of the pathogen and may provide clue for smart vaccines against Fowl typhoid infection.
