Publication data for Barner et al. Journal of Ecology Manuscript: The complex net effect of reciprocal interactions and recruitment facilitation maintains an intertidal kelp community. In this study, we conducted two different removal experiments to quantify species interactions between the canopy kelp Saccharina sessilis and its understorey. Coupled with observational data on kelp recruitment, we determined the whole-community species interaction network for a rocky intertidal macroalgal canopy-understorey assemblage. The data here include the observational recruitment data and data from both experiments, as well as a list enumerating the species in this community.
