资源简介:
In cerium-based compounds, crystalline electric field (CEF) plays an influential role in addition to Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) and Kondo effect in deciding the nature of magnetic ordering by lifting the degeneracy of the ground state J multiplets. Therefore, one must know the crystal electric field scheme and the Kondo energy scale to understand such a new system entirely. In this case, where the Ce site has a less symmetric environment (orthorhombic structure), perturbation from CEF splits the J = 5/2 state into three doublets, i.e., two excited states. Here, inelastic neutron scattering serves as the best technique to determine both the excited CEF split states. Moreover, quasielastic linewidth in the INS experiment provides a way to verify the existence/non-existence of the Kondo energy scale. We propose to perform these measurements on a new cerium-based compound, Ce2Rh3Ga5, which crystallizes in an orthorhombic structure to obtain the information corresponding to both energy scales.
