The present study, undertaken under the CRP on Agrobiodiversity, aims to assess the long-term viability and transcriptomic integrity of cryopreserved buffalo somatic cells as a strategy for conserving valuable genetic resources. India, being home to the world's richest buffalo germplasm - including renowned breeds like Murrah - is facing rapid genetic erosion due to unregulated breeding practices and a lack of structured conservation efforts.
