IL-18BP in NASH progression

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)/nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are frequent hepatic disorders associated with obesity and diabetes. IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP) controls the action of interleukin-18 (IL-18), a pro-inflammatory cytokine. We studied changes in the liver, gut microbiota and gut antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) production in IL-18BP-deficient mice on the control and different NASH-inducing diets (ATH, MCD, HFD).
