This dataset is intended to support the findings of the publication "Experimental demonstration of regenerative wind farming using a high-density layout of VAWTs" by Bensason, Mulay (MSc student), Sciacchitano, and Ferreira. The dataset includes 3D-resolved wake data of a wind farm using Particle Tracking Velocimetry in the open-jet wind tunnel facility of the TU Delft (OJF). An array of nine turbines arranged in a 3x3 grid with constant stream wise and lateral distance of 5D and 3.18D was tested, where D = 0.3m is the diameter of the H-Type VAWTs. The inflow, inter farm, and outflow of the farm was measured for three modes of operation, namely, baseline (where no passive pitch was applied to the blades), positive pitch (where blades of all the rotors are pitched inward), and negative pitch (where blades of all the rotors are pitched outward). This research and dataset aim to provide the first experimental 3D-resolved wake measurement of a high-energy density VAWT farm. The results and database will [provide a benchmark for future and ongoing development of numerical models.
